Woman Kicked And Punched In Gosport

Police in Gosport are seeking witnesses to an assault that happened on New Year's Day in Forton Road, outside Madeline's pub.

At about 0.55am, a 30-year-old woman was walking along the road towards the town centre with a friend when they were confronted by two women outside Madeline's.

One of these woman then assaulted the victim by punching and kicking her in the head several times, in an unprovoked assault.

The victim was taken to Queen Alexandra hospital for treatment to a swollen left eye and bruising to her jaw.

The suspect is described as:

 *White

*Dark coloured hair

*Large build

*Approximately 20-years-old

PC Kirsty Smith said: “This was a particularly nasty assault, committed by a mindless thug, and we would like to catch them as soon as possible. There were a lot of people in and around the area of the pub, and there is a good chance they know who is responsible for this offence.

“We would encourage anyone who witnessed the assault, or knows who the offender is, to come forward as soon as possible.”
