Woman Knocked Down By Police Car

A woman's been knocked down by a police car as it was on an emergency call in Portsmouth.

It happened on the southbound stretch of Eastern Road near Hayling Avenue just before 10pm on Sunday 20th November.

The BMW police car was responding to reports of a break in.

The 32-year-old pedestrian's been taken to the QA hospital in Cosham with serious but not life threatening injuries.

The two officers in the car were not hurt but were badly shaken.

An investigation is now underway.

Hampshire Police tell us the incident's not being referred to the police watchdog - the IPCC - at this time.

Anyone with any information should contact the Fratton Roads Policing Unit on 101.
