Man Charged After Woman Reports Attack

A man is due in court later after being charged in connection with a reported assault.

It's after a woman in her 20's said that she had been assaulted in the cemetery at Bury Road in Stowmarket around 6am on the morning of Saturday 30th April.

Police were contacted just after 6am by a member of the public reporting the woman had been attacked.

It's thought she had been walking through the cemetery when she was grabbed by a man and dragged into bushes there. She screamed, alerting a member of the public, and fought back and the offender fled.

20-year-old Luke Myers who doesn't have a fixed address has been charged with assault with the intention of committing a sexual offence.

He has been detained in police custody to appear before South East Suffolk Magistrates Court today Monday 2nd May.
