The bodies of three soldiers killed in separate incidents in Afghanistan will return to British soil today.

Lance Corporal of Horse Jonathan Woodgate, who was born in Bury St Edmunds was killed in Helmand last week.

The 26 year old served with the Household Cavalry Regiment, was on foot patrol to the south of Sangin District Centre on March 26 when he was fatally wounded by a grenade thrown from behind a wall.

Rifleman Daniel Holkham, 19, and Serjeant Steven Campbell, 30 both from 3rd Battalion The Rifles, will also make their final journey.

The three soldiers will be repatriated to RAF Lyneham, in Wiltshire, this morning where a private service will be held for family. The coffins will then pass through the nearby town of Wootton Bassett, where hundreds are expected to once again line the streets to pay their respects.
