Sussex appears to have escaped the worst of Sunday morning's predicted storms.

The Met Office was warning us to expect torrential rain and gale-force winds during Sunday morning and the Environment Agency had flood warnings in place for the coast from Selsey to Shoreham

But although it rained hard for most of the morning there was little flooding across the county. Firecrews in East Sussex were called to pump out dozens of flooded basement flats but West Sussex Fire and Rescue told Heart that by midday they had not received any weather-related calls.

Sussex is getting a break from the wet and windy weather. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are all expected to stay dry with sunny spells.
