Rennie Grove Hospice Care’s festive fundraiser The Jingle Bell Jog and Reindeer Run returns to St Albans on Sunday December 4.
Waterend Barn, St Peter’s Street will be the starting point for both festive-themed challenges where Everyone Active will lead antler- and Santa suit-clad participants through warm ups to keep the frostbite at bay before embarking on their races. All participants will be given a medal on completing their fun run, kindly sponsored by Collinson Hall Estate Agents.
Whilst runners make their way to the start line, spectators can keep warm by having a boogie to some well-known Christmas tunes, thanks to Heart FM who will be keeping the motivation and atmosphere going on the day.
This cracker of an event is open to young families and seasoned runners alike. The fabulously fun 1.5k Reindeer Run begins at 11am and is open to all ages costing £5 for children aged 4 and under, £10 for those aged 5-16 and £16 for over 16s. The cost of entry includes antlers, a flashing nose and a medal at the finish line.
The more challenging 5k Jingle Bell Jog starting at 11:30am, is open to over 10s and costs £10 for those aged 10-16 and £16 for over 16s. Race around St Albans town centre in a full Santa suit complete with beard, topped off with a medal on finishing the race.
The festive outfits give the event a more exciting feel than any other race you might take part in throughout the year. It captures the Christmas spirit and brings families together during the festive period. The money raised helps keep local patients at home with their families throughout what might be their last Christmas together.
Rennie Grove provides care and support to local patients with cancer and other life-limiting illness and their families. Through a range of day services at Grove House, a 24/7 responsive hospice at home service and support services for carers and family members, the charity makes it possible for patients to choose to stay at home surrounded by their families and friends, something that is especially important at Christmas. 84% of the money needed to run the service every year is generously donated by the local community by supporting events like this which is why raising sponsorship is so vital to the charity.
