Air Ambulance Touches Down
Hertfordshire's Air Ambulance is going to make a series of non-emergency landings to try and raise more money to keep the service going.
The landings are part of a week-long campaign to raise awareness of the work the Air Ambulance does, without any direct government or lottery funding. The service relies entirely on public donations.
Fundraising Manager Michelle de la Bertauche said "We need £130,000 every month to continue providing this life-saving service.
"Many businesses, schools and organisations in Hertfordshire are joining in ‘Go Red’ week. We are delighted that so many people will be marking the week. We know of pubs which will be running quiz nights, restaurants producing special red desserts, schools and offices having dress down red days – the support really is fantastic and their donations will be vital."
The landings will see the Air Ambulance call at Hemel Hempstead's Cricket Club as well as a school in Welwyn Garden City and at Hertfordshire's County Hall in Hertford.
Other fundraising events include a Rotor Run on Sunday 25 September 2011, a 5km fun run around Fairlands Valley Park in Stevenage, combined with the Rotor Roam for youngsters, which is a 1km stroll around the lake.
The landings of the Air Ambulance are as follows:
- Hemel Hempstead Cricket Club on Monday 26 September at 2pm
- Stanborough School, Welwyn Garden City on Wednesday 28 September at 12:30 – 1:50pm
- Hertfordshire County Hall, Hertford on Thursday 29 September at 12:30 – 2pm
