Borehamwood: New 21st Century Library Opens
A £1.2m library has opened in Borehamwood - which it's hoped will attract more visitors than the previous building.
The new library will be across three floors, featuring books, talking books and DVDs to borrow, free wi-fi, public computers, study space for students and activities for children and young people.
Overall access to library services will increase with a rise in weekly core opening hours from 37 to 38 and an additional ten hours of Library Express time, enabling people to borrow and return books and use computers at times when the library would otherwise have been closed.
Frances Button, Cabinet Member with responsibility for libraries told Heart: "The fantastic new state-of-the-art community building at 96 Shenley Road will be much more than a library. It will be home to a new look museum, youth services and community space for a host of events and activities for local people of all ages.
The new building is the result of an innovative partnership between Hertfordshire County Council. Hertsmere Borough Council, Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council, and All Saints Church, Borehamwood."
