Family Tribute To Phone Hack Whistleblower

The family of the News of the World reporter found dead at home in Watford in July have paid tribute to him.

Sean Hoare's body was found on Monday 18 July 2011 - the day before Rupert and James Murdoch faced questioning by MPs over the phone hacking scandal.

The inquest heard the 48 year old (pictured right at his wedding to his wife Jo) died from alcoholic liver disease.  He had earlier told how phone hacking was rife at the News of the World and that the paper's editor Andy Coulson was aware of it.

In a statement released through Hertfordshire's police, Sean's family said: "Sean was a much-loved husband, son, brother and uncle and understandably his death devastated us all.
"He had a special and unique character.  Hhe always put others first and nothing was too much trouble for him.

"He was full of charm and had a wonderful sense of humour, which will always bring a smile to us when we think of the laughter and joy he gave us.

"We have so many happy memories to cherish, but we miss him terribly and think of him every day and know he will always be by our side.
"Since Sean’s death we have been overwhelmed with the messages of support and tributes to him and we would like to thank all of his friends and colleagues who have been in touch as these words of comfort and kindness mean so much.
"Sadly, as we and his closest friends knew, Sean had not been in the best of health in recent years and we accept the Coroner’s verdict.

"We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the officers of Hertfordshire Constabulary for their help following Sean’s death and leading up to the inquest."
