Faster Broadband For Rural Hertfordshire

Hertfordshire's getting £1.1million to make internet speeds faster in remote parts of the county.

It's part of a £365million investment which will help millions of Britains with painfully slow broadband.

The fund will mean 90% of hard-to-reach communities with frustratingly slow internet speeds could have access to superfast broadband by 2015.

£31.3million has gone to Devon and Somerset, making it the area that's received the most amount of funds, in contrast London has received nothing.

It's now up to local authorities and residents to decide how and where the money should be spent.

Tim Barnsclay, from the Country Land and Business Association, who's been campaigning for better broadband for 8 years, says ''Hertfordshire's not really shouted as much as some of the other counties because of the commuting available into London, but what the government want to do is to stop all this and actually keep people within their communities otherwise we will end up with more and more ghost-towns.''
