Man Airlifted To Hospital After Knife Incident In Watford

A man who was reportedly armed with a knife has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries this afternoon (Wednesday June 8th) following an incident inside a busy department store in Watford.

Police were called to John Lewis in The Harlequin Centre just before 1pm and have told Heart a taser gun was used on the man for his own safety.

Two ambulances and the Hertfordshire Air Ambulance attended the scene.

Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson has been telling Heart:

“On arrival a man was found in a serious condition. Paramedics and a doctor from the air ambulance rapidly treated, stabilised and immobilised him before he was airlifted direct from the scene to a specialist trauma centre at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.”

The air ambulance landed in a nearby school.

No one else was injured in the incident.

Police investigations continue.
