Teacher escapes jail after texting girls
A PE teacher who bombarded four teenage girls with hundreds of suggestive texts escaped jail.
Emmanuel Gbajumo, 29, told the girls, who were aged between 14 and 16, that he loved them and wanted to have sex with them.
He was arrested when one of the girls went to staff at the school in Watford.
Gbajumo from Grove Crescent, Brent, North London appeared for sentence at St Albans crown court on Friday (January 28th) having pleaded guilty to four charges of arranging or facilitating the commission of a sexual offence on a child.
Judge Stephen Gullick passed a 10-month prison sentence suspended for 2 years with £1500 costs. He told him: "Your teaching career is now concluded. You will never teach in a school again. That is one consequence of this behaviour.
"You have expressed remorse and a desire to address the issues that underpin your offending.
"While the nature of these offences cross the custody threshold, the public interest is for you to address these issues, which would not be available if I were to sentence you to prison."
He was made the subject of a sex offences prevention order, banned from contact with anyone under 16 and must take part in a sex offender treatment programme while under probation supervision for two years.
