Watford: CCTV moments before fuel theft

16 December 2011, 06:00

Hertfordshire Police investigating a theft are releasing a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the investigation.

The incident took place at 2.30pm on Tuesday, November 22 - and the image has just been released by Police from the site at Sainsbury's petrol station on Cow Lane in Watford.

Three men pulled up at the petrol station in a silver Citroen C5 and filled the car up with fuel. As the car appeared to have broken down, they then pushed it up close to the restaurant nearby the petrol station, left it and then made off in an unknown direction without paying for the fuel.

Investigating officer PC Chris Armstrong said: “I am appealing to anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV image to get in touch with us as soon as possible. It could be that this man witnessed the theft take place and could help us with our investigations.

I'd also be interested to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or perhaps knows someone who was involved.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Armstrong on the non-emergency number 101 with crime reference number C4/11/2720. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
