Poor Literacy Among Primary School Children

One of five children left Primary School last year without hitting required reading and writing skills

So during 2011 Volunteer Reading Help (VRH) charity sent a thousand volunteers to almost 1500 schools in the West Midlands to try and get as much one-to-one reading support as they can.

Last year 120 helpers were placed in 84 Birmingham and Coventry Schools, over 140 into 78 schools pin the Black Country and 102 volunteers in Shropshire schools with the aim to get more sent out.
