A mum is hoping to give JK Rowling and Jacqueline Wilson a run for their money next year.
Maudie Smith, from Freshford near Bath, has written a book called Opal Moonbaby, which has just been snapped up by publishers.
Opal Moonbaby tells the story of an alien who comes to earth and befriends a schoolgirl during the holidays.
Maudie initially wrote the book for her two daughters, but will now see it hit bookshops next year and she has also been asked to write two more books, much to the delight of her kids:
Opal Moonbaby will be out in January and is aimed at 7 to10 year olds.
