Caught out

13th July: It's usually something you'd do in private, when no one's watching.

You might do it in the bedroom or the bathroom - or if you're feeling brave you might take it outside and do it in the great outdoors.

You know what I'm talking about, right?

Yep. You're absolutely right. I'm talking about talking to yourself. The secret habit lots of people indulge in when they're alone. Except sometimes you might be doing it when you THINK you're alone, but you're not actually alone at all.

Sometimes you might be doing it when you're walking down the stairs at work, thinking everyone else is in the office but actually one of your colleagues is behind you.

This is exactly what happened to Jez the other day. As I came out of the bathroom at the top of the stairs in Heart Towers, I overheard Jez commentating in a radio style to himself.

He was walking along, oblivious of my presence, when he looked at his watch and said aloud, "It's 12.30pm". And then he looked out of the window and announced, "And it's raining", before continuing on his merry way.

I found this very funny. It's not every day you catch someone doing something they usually only do when they're alone. And it was the way Jez did it in a radio presenter style - ever the DJ, even when he's not on air.

But apparently he's not alone. Brindy from Chippenham reckons talking to yourself is a sign that the people around you are lacking in something...

Brindy Does It Too!

And according to Suzanne Kimberlin, a psychotherapist and hypnotherapist from Westbury, chatting to yourself is just an indication of a certain type of person. Fascinating stuff!

So is Jez going mad?!

How about you - do you ever talk to yourself? And have you ever been caught out by someone?!
