Lennon inspired 'Bed In' to save centre

The Church and Mossley Hill Centre is where the ex Beatle actually went to Primary School. But it's one of a number of facilities threatened with closure, despite only being open for 12 months.

Lennon's widow Yoko Ono has written to the Centre which she actually opened last year to offer her support saying "I was very sad to hear of the proposed closure, I know how much it is valued and used by children in the community"

Mum Susan Atkin has told Heart the community needs the centre and they'll fight any closure because the area desperately needs the service.

A Council Spokesperson has spoken to Heart News and released this statement “A formal consultation is due to start at the end of September over the proposed closure of four Children’s Centres, including Church and Mossley Hill. At the end of the consultation, all of the views expressed during the process will be included in a report which will be considered by the council’s Cabinet"
