CCTV car camera rakes in £8 million

Research shows that in the last year UK councils have made 8 millions pounds in fines by using the vehicles.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has recently launches a smart car with CCTV to catch people parking illegally.

Meanwhile on the Wirral three thousand people were caught costing them £88,000 thousand pounds.

Rachel Johnston from Wallasey got three fines, but they were all overturned and she reckons there is a place for the smart car:

"I think it should be used outside schools. I have seen it outside New Brighton Primary. But I think that's what it should be used for not getting people going about their business. It's just not what it should be used for."

Councils across North Wales don't use the CCTV cars and in Wrexham and Flintshire -Councils say there are no plans for them.
