Funeral held for Chester soldier

The funeral of a Chester soldier killed in Afghanistan on June 4th has taken place in Blacon.

Corporal Terry Webster from 1st Battalion the Mercian Regiment died after a gunfight in Afghanistan.

Major Ronnie Goodwin from the Battalion paid tribute to him before the service at Holy Trinity Church.

He said:

"Terry Webster was an awesome soldier, he was a good commander, respected by all and will be sadly missed.

"He was very popular throughout the whole Battalion and he had a good sense of humour."

Corporal Webster leaves his wife Charlotte and his children Jess and Liam.

The funeral of Lance Corporal Alan Cochran from Flintshire who also died in the firefight in Afghanistan on June 4th will take place later in the week.
