Man admits killing mother and son

A Polish man has this afternoon (Monday) pleaded guilty to the murders of an eleven-year-old boy and the child’s mother.

Krystian Rozek, 27, formerly of Cae Hir, Flint, denied attempting to murder the father and this was accepted at Caernarfon crown court.

Monika Wasko, 29, a council cleaner, died and her son Patryk lost his fight for life in Alder Hey children’s hospital, Liverpool.

Bearded Rozek had been living with the family while he was working at Flint.

The murders had shaken the little town and particularly the Roman Catholic church which the family attended and Patryk’s school where he was described as a caring boy who always had a smile.

With a woman interpreter at his side in the dock, Rozek nodded and made his pleas when she translated the charges into Polish.

Sentencing was adjourned until a later date.

Judge Merfyn Hughes QC told him: "Within the next few days you will be informed of the date upon which you will be sentenced.

"You understand of course that the only sentence which the court can impose upon you is life imprisonment."
