Fresh abuse allegations against disgraced presenter Jimmy Savile have been made in relation to 12 NHS Trusts.

The Health Secretary has confirmed fresh claims have emerged since 28 investigation reports into Savile's activities in NHS premises were published in June.

It means the total number of hospitals investigating allegations has been extended to 41.

A further wave of allegations has since emerged at some of those hospitals, and meanwhile a further nine are starting investigations.

The results are expected in January 2015.

Nine hospital trusts - not involved in the last round of allegations - are starting completely fresh inquiries - including 3 in West Yorkshire.

They are:

Meanwood Park Hospital in Leeds
Calderdale Royal Hospital
West Yorkshire Ambulance Service
Birch Hill Hospital in Rochdale
Scott House Hospital in Rochdale
Bethlem Royal Hospital in London
Shenley Hospital in London
St Martin's Hospital in Canterbury
Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead

Reports from four hospitals - Stoke Mandeville, Rampton Hospital in Nottinghamshire, Springfield Hospital in London and Crawley Hospital in West Sussex - were due in June, but were delayed.
