Woman has Purse Taken

Police have issued an image of a woman they would like to speak to after a woman's purse was stolen in Basingstoke.

At around 11.15am on Monday 15th February, a 58-year-old woman was shopping at Poundland in Festival Place. While she was in the shop she noticed a woman standing very close to her, but thought nothing of it.

When she went to the till to pay she found that her purse had been stolen.

PC Ross Holdsworth, of the Basingstoke Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: “We want to remind shoppers to look after their belongings when they are out in the town centre and would ask them to report any suspicious people to police.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who recognises the woman in the image or anyone with any information about the theft.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Holdsworth at Basingstoke police station on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
