CCTV still have been released of a man British Transport Police wish to speak to about an alleged punching attack on a Bath man, as a train travelled towards Cheltenham Spa.
Investigator PC Frank Hedley says: “The victim, a 41-year-old man from Bath, boarded a Glasgow Central – Bristol Temple Meads train at Birmingham New Street at 9.25pm on Tuesday, 2 September 2014.
“Another man who boarded the train sat behind the victim. During the journey this man shouted intimidating comments towards the victim before punching him several times in the face.
“This would appear to be a totally unprovoked and particularly violent assault, which left the victim suffering facial injuries as well as being shocked by the man’s behaviour.
“Fortunately this type of incident is rare on the rail network, but this is a very serious offence and it is vital that we trace the person responsible.”
The man police want to talk to is said to have got off the train at Cheltenham Spa, having boarded at Birmingham New Street.
It is believed he was intending to travel to Bristol, and could have connections to both cities.
