A1 To Be Resurfaced

The A1 between Wyboston and Eaton Socon will be resurfaced across May and June.

Between Monday 17 May and Thursday 3 June, the Highways Agency will need to close the A1/A428 northbound slip road, the A428 westbound carriageway and the southbound slip road onto the A428...


  • 8pm and 7pm on Mondays to Thursdays
  • Between 8pm and 9am on Fridays
  • 7pm and 10am on Saturdays
  • 7pm to 7am on Sundays.

Traffic needing the northbound A1/A428 off slip road will be diverted north along the A1 to the B645, then southbound along the A1. Westbound A428 and southbound A428 on-slip road traffic will be diverted to the A1 at Tempsford Church End via the A428 Tesco roundabout and Little Barford.


From Friday 4 June to Monday 14 June, the southbound A1 will be closed between the A428 at Wyboston and the Black Cat roundabout...


  • From 8pm to 6am on Mondays to Thursdays
  • Fridays from 8pm to 9am
  • Saturdays between 6pm and 10am
  • Sundays between 9pm and 6am.

Southbound traffic will be diverted off the A1 at Wyboston onto the A428 to the Tesco roundabout and then south through Little Barford, rejoining the A1 at Tempsford. The northbound A1 will remain open.


From Tuesday 15 June to Thursday 24 June, the northbound A1 will be closed between the Black Cat roundabout and the A428 Wyboston junction...


  • 8pm to 7am on Monday to Thursdays
  • Fridays from 8pm to 9am
  • Saturdays between 7pm and 10am
  • Sundays between 7pm and 7am.

Northbound traffic will be diverted from the A1 at Tempsford through Little Barford to the Tesco roundabout then onto the A428, rejoining the A1 at Wyboston.


Finally, the northbound A1/A428 on-slip road will be closed from 8pm to 9am on Friday 25 June.

Traffic will be diverted southbound to the Black Cat roundabout, returning northbound. During the work, there will be a 40mph speed restriction in places.
