12 April 2012, 06:00

One week into the hosepipe ban and Anglian Water are looking into other ways they can manage the drought.

Anglian Water, who supply parts of Bedford, Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes are in talks with a water company in the midlands about buying water off them.

Seven Trent have a reserve supply kept in boreholes in Birmingham.

John Clare from Anglian Water told Heart that this has been offered to them:

"They're saying that this year at least that water is available, at surplus in theory for us and if we can find a way of getting it across Lincolnshire then we will explore that"

"There are some barriers to overcome we need to look at the engineering and the logistical challenges, we need to talk to the Environment Agency so a few hurdles to jump but we are in talks with them so we'll see where it goes"

John say’s its very early days yet and no decision has been made.
