Two men from Bedford arrested after a man's body was found washed up on a beach in Cornwall have been released without charge.

The body of Luke Griffin was found on Great Western Beach at Newquay on the morning of Saturday 2 June 2012.  The 21 year old from Stroud, Gloucestershire, had been visiting Newquay as part of an end-of-season tour with his local football club, Leonard Stanley AFC.

Two men from Bedford, both aged 41, were arrested on suspicion of assault but a Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said their bail has now been cancelled after their release.

He said: "Police have now ruled out third party involvement in the death and are not treating the death as suspicious.''

A file on the death will be passed to the local coroner.
