A man's been charged with causing a bomb hoax that closed Bedford Railway Station as commuters were trying to get home.
The station had to close on the afternoon of Wednesday 12 December 2012 while police investigated reports of suspicious packages on a train. Nothing suspicious was found.
British Transport Police had earlier received reports of a man carrying a bladed weapon around the station.
Shaun Thomas, 41, from Dunham Close, Bedford, has also been charged with two counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, one charge of a bomb hoax and placing an article with intent, and a further charge of causing a public nuisance.
Bedfordshire Police say he also faces an arson charge in connection with an incident that happened at his home address on Tuesday 11 December.
He was due to appear at Bedford Magistrates Court on Friday 14 December.
