Eastcotts Children’s Centre will be moving from Shortstown Lower School site to the New Shorts Building, which was formerly RAF Cardington.
The Children’s Centre is due to open its doors at its new location from July 2011. In the meantime, individuals can still visit the Children’s Centre staff for advice and information in a temporary office at Shortstown Lower School. Eastcotts Children’s Centre staff will still continue to deliver activities from a variety of venues in Shortstown and Cotton End.
Moving the Children’s Centre to the Shorts Building will enable families to enjoy a new purpose built Children’s Centre right in the heart of a future community comprising in excess of 1,500 new homes in addition to those in the existing settlement of Shortstown.
Chris Hilliard, Executive Director for Children’s Services, Schools and Families at Bedford Borough Council, said: “The centre will be situated in an ideal position. It will be in walking distance from retail units, a medical centre, a lower school, and more community facilities.”
