Police are appealing for witnesses after a 19 year old man was inappropriately touched by a gunman in a Luton street.

On Sunday 28th October the victim was followed as he walked along New Bedford Road and into Alexandra Avenue in Luton between 9.10pm and 9.30pm.

He was approached by another man who grabbed his face and tried to kiss him before touching the victim's bottom. The victim pushed the offender away several times and told him to leave before the man produced a hand gun which he pointed at the victim. The victim managed to push the gun away from him before being chased from the scene along Biscot Road.

It is believed a woman was in the area at the time of the incident and the officer in charge of this investigation, Detective Constable Joanne Merry, is keen to trace this person or anyone else in the area that night.

DC Merry said: "This is an unusual incident and it is unknown what the motive for this man's behaviour was but it was extremely frightening experience for the victim to have a gun pointed at him.

"It is unknown whether the gun shown was a replica or not but Bedfordshire Police will not tolerate any use of firearms and anyone with information relating to this crime can contact the police in complete confidence and help stop this man from behaving in this way towards others."
