Asbestos at TVU

A week after a possible asbestos scare shut Thames Valley University's Crescent Road campus in Reading, it is due to reopen.

The site was temporarily closed from Friday 16 April at 9am and will re-open on Monday 26 April at 9am. This was to enable survey work to be undertaken to ascertain the possible presence of asbestos.

Health and safety tests have shown asbestos was used in the construction of the Crescent Road site, but it does not pose a health risk as long as it is not disturbed by building works and remains in a good condition. Inspectors have now confirmed the campus is safe and work has begun to move classes back into the site.
