Changes to mental health services

Your views are wanted over the future of mental health care in Berkshire.

Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust has started a public consultation to help decide the future of mental health service provision in Berkshire.

The Trust has a state-of-the-art mental health hospital in Reading and 4 hospital sites in East Berkshire. However the latter are based in old fashioned hospitals and a few years ago it was decided facilities should be improved.

In 2008, it was decided that a new mental health unit would be build at Upton Hospital, Slough in East Berkshire.

However, since the recession hit, the trust has been forced to think again. Funding has been cut and managers have worked out they need to save £12 million over the next three years.

Check out this video from the trust to see what their options are, and how you can have your say.
