Thames Valley Police has arrested a man in connection with a rape in Reading in the early hours of this morning (18/12).
Between 2am and 3.30am, a woman in her twenties reported to police she had been raped by a man in St Johns Street.
A 21 year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of rape and is currently in police custody.
Investigating officer, Det Sgt Carl Bradford from Reading Force CID, said: "We are in the early stages of this investigation and so would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of the London Road near St Johns Street in the early hours of this morning, or anyone who may know something of the incident.
The early indications are that both people had been in a small group talking before something took place in St Johns Street.
If you think you know anything, no matter how small, please get in touch immediately."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Sgt Bradford via the Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 101.
