Police in Reading are investigating after a woman's body was found shortly before a man was hit by a train.
Officers were called to an address in Malone Road, Woodley at 1.50pm on Wednesday 30th June where the body of a woman in her forties was found.
Shortly after that they were also called to Twyford Railway Station where the body of a man, also in his forties, was discovered after he was hit by a train.
Today (Thursday 1st July), Thames Valley Police officers are still at the property on Malone Road.
Officers are still investigating whether the incidents are linked and are treating both deaths as unexplained.
Detective Inspector Rod Howell, who is leading the investigation, said:
“At this stage we have been unable to inform all the family members of the people who have died and we would therefore ask the media to refrain from speculating on the identities of those who have lost their lives.
“Those family members that we have traced are being looked after by specially trained officers. They have asked to be allowed to grieve in peace.
“While we are not looking for anyone else in relation to the deaths, we appreciate that this incident has caused a great deal of upset in the community. We will be providing high visibility patrols in this area of Woodley to provide reassurance.
“Post mortem examinations into both deaths will take place today and until those have been completed we cannot speculate on the cause of death.”
