Reading: Five Sexual Assaults In One Night Linked

7 December 2014, 07:28

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a number of reports from women that they were sexually assaulted by what appears to be the same man in Reading on Thursday night.

Police received five reports from five different women that they were approached by a man and in three of the incidents he touched them inappropriately. The other two women were followed and he made sexual suggestions.

All five incidents happened between 6pm and 6.45pm on Thursday (4 December) on the following roads, Bath Road, Upcross Gardens and three incidents on Coley Avenue.

The man is described as Asian, in his twenties, 5ft 8ins, with thick dark hair. He was wearing grey jogging bottoms and a dark jacket.

A previous incident of inappropriate touching, reported on 30 November ,which occurred at a shop within the Broad Street Mall is being linked by Police to the incidents above. This offender was also described as a fair skinned Asian man, in his twenties, with short black hair. He was wearing light blue faded jeans and a distinctive black baseball cap with the word I (love heart) haters, on it.

Det Sgt Matthew Fear said:

“We are linking these incidents as the description and the incidents were very similar. He was walking up to women and either following them or making sexual suggestions. In some cases he touched the women inappropriately.

“We would urge people to be vigilant especially in these dark early evenings and also encourage anyone who sees anyone answering this description acting suspiciously to call us.”
