Watch out for wide load!

Expect some disruption on the roads as a huge steel cylinder is being moved.

Drivers in Reading, Thatcham and Newbury are being warned to watch out for a wide loads being moved for the rest of January.

The massive steel cylinders are being moved on lorries from Reading to Southampton.

They'll be escorted by Thames Valley and Hampshire Police and will be using A-roads as the loads will be too tall to pass under motorway bridges.

It'll take two days to complete the full route, starting at 9.30am each day.

The cylinders don't contain anything dangerous and utility company engineers will also be on hand to ensure overhead cables are kept clear of the load.

Residents and drivers on and around the route need to to avoid on-street parking in the roads along the route.

Heart's been told the lorry will be moving less than 15mph, but will occasionally pull over so other traffic can pass.

A33 North along Rose Kiln Lane – A4 Berkeley Ave. – A4 Bath Rd. – Across M4 at J12. Around Thatcham via FLORAL WAY  – HEATH LANE– BOWLING GREEN Rd.  – TULL Rd. Rejoin A4 - Newbury – A339 south – B4640 Tot Hill.  End of Section / Day 1

ROUTE – Day  2    Section :   Tot Hill to Southampton.

Tot Hill – White Hill – A34 – Larks Barrow Hill – Approaching Whitchurch  NEWBURY RD. –  NEWBURY ST - WINCHESTER ST. – WINCHESTER RD. – Exit Whitchurch – A34 – Bullington Lane – By Pass Rd. –OXFORD RD.– Winchester Hill – Christmas Hill – Andover Rd. – SUSSEX ST. – ROMSEY RD. – A3090 – Hook Rd. – HURSLEY RD. – BOURNEMOUTH RD. – A33 Bassett Ave. – A35 Winchester Rd. – A35 Trebourba Way – Millbrook Rd West – First Ave. – Southampton Docks Gate 20.
