A Bath Doctor has headed up a national enquiry into cosmetic surgery and revealed some shocking findings.
Dr Alex Goodwin from Bath RUH found that 56% of clinics didn't have the full compliment of equipment to carry out surgery safely.
18 percent don't have a plan to re-admit patients in the event of complications and a third don't with beds for patients on site don't have sufficient anesthetic cover.
Dr Goodwin also said there were concerns about the way surgery was advertised, particularly the lack of regulation for internet adverts."This may put undue pressure on those considering cosmetic surgery' he said. He added 'there isn't enough psychological assessment for patients who may have unrealistic expectations before they consent to treatment.
