Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Bristol in which a pedestrian has died.

At around 9.30pm on Saturday evening a silver Vauxhall Astra was in collision with a man on Wilder Street.

The man, who was in his 50s, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Southmead Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.

An investigation into the collision has begun and there are road closures and a cordon in place to allow for inquiries to be made at the scene.

It is thought people attending a nearby hostel may have witnessed the incident and we would appeal to them to come forward with any information they may have.
