Body Found In Littleport

The body of a man has been discovered in some water in Littleport, near Ely.

A member of the public made the discovery at 5:30am today (Thursday).

It comes three days after Police got reports that a man had gone missing, after going canoeing and falling into the nearby River Great Ouse.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesperson said: "Police were called by the ambulance service just before 3.30pm on Monday (August 1) with reports that an elderly man who had been canoeing had fallen into the river at Victoria Gardens in Littleport.

Emergency services, including police, the fire service and Spartan Rescue, went to the scene along with the helicopter from Suffolk police.

Numerous river searches have been carried out by the fire service and Spartan Rescue.

This morning (Thursday) the body of a man was discovered in the water in Littleport by a member of the public at 5.30am."

The body of the man has not yet been identified.
