Cambridge: £4.25 Million Station Upgrade

£4.25 million is going to be spent on improving Cambridge train station.

Plans include making the ticket hall bigger and more modern, and providing a better concourse.

A hotel, and a 3,000 space cycle park are also being planned, for the station approach.

The funding for the improevements have come from Cambridge based developer Brookgate.

Greater Anglia, who are managing the upgrade, and who manage the station, have told Heart they plan to start work in late summer, and hope to have the station finished by the middle of next year. 

They added that they will be trying to keep passenger disruption to a minimum.

Richard Schofield, from Network Rail, says "Cambridge station is one of the busiest stations in the east of England and this investment will make a positive difference for passengers, particularly as the number of peopleusing the railway continues to grow. 

These improvements will be a further boost to Cambridge's economy bringing benefits to passengers and the wider community."
