A man has been injured after being injured in a hit and run in central Cambridge.

The 51-year-old man was left with minor injuries in the collision at the zebra crossing in Mill Road at about 2.20pm yesterday (Friday).

Cambridgeshire Police say the vehicle involved, thought to be a silver estate, possibly a Volkswagen, did not stop at the scene.

PC Dave Black, who is investigating, said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision to contact police.

I know there were quite a few people along Mill Road at the time and I would particularly like to speak to the occupants of another car which may have been following the vehicle involved at the time of the collision."

Anyone with any information is asked to call PC Black at the roads policing unit on 101.
