Detectives have released an E-Fit image [pictured - right] after six women were indecently assaulted in Cambridge.

The attacks since the 11th November are all being linked by police.

On each occasion a woman has been grabbed and then assaulted over her clothes.

Police hope the image will help identify the offender.

He is described as white, 20 to 30, 5'10'' to six foot, of medium build and physically strong.

He has short dark hair, stubble and wears a black jacket over a grey hooded jumper.

Detective Sergeant Phil Priestley, investigating, said: "We have received a good response so far from the public and hopefully this image will encourage others to come forward with information.

I would urge anyone who recognises the image to contact police. No piece of information is too trivial and may help us bring this offender to justice."

Police will continue the increased patrols in the areas where the offences were committed.

The latest incident happened in Shelly Row at 12.30am on Monday, February 7, when a 27-year-old woman was grabbed. The offender ran off when she screamed.

The other five incidents occurred between November 11 and December 25 in the Newnham area of the city.

The first happened at 1.15am on November 11, when a 21-year-old woman was grabbed in Adams Road.

A 29-year-old woman was then assaulted in Silver Street at about midnight on November 17.

The following day, at around the same time, a 21-year-old woman was assaulted in Sidgwick Avenue.

A 19-year-old woman was grabbed in the same street at 2am on December 2.

A 32-year-old woman was assaulted in Grantchester Meadows at 3am on Christmas morning.

In every incident the offender has run off when the victim began struggling or screaming.
