Two officers have been hurt after a police car was rammed by an agricultural vehicle in a South Cambridgeshire village.
The Cambridgeshire Police control room had a report of two suspicious vehicles driving without lights in Gamilngay at 3am this morning.
Police were sent to the scene in a patrol car, and a Teleporter vehicle, used for stacking hay bales, and a cream Mini Clubman were then spotted driving along Long Lane.
The Teleporter drove towards the patrol car and rammed it into a side road, leaving the officers inside with minor injuries.
The driver of the Teleporter then ran off into the Mini, which turned into Church Road and headed towards Potton.
Police searched the area, and the Teleporter has been recovered and is now being examined.
Sergeant Paul Rogerson said: "I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area and maybe saw the police car being rammed or saw the vehicles leaving the scene.
Both officers’ welfare is in hand and neither required medical treatment.
I believe these vehicles were due to commit a ram raid before officers were alerted.
Therefore, I’d ask the residents in the surrounding villages to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious to police."
Anyone with information is asked to call Sergeant Rogerson on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
