Haverhill: Blaze At Former School

Around 50 fire-fighters were called to tackle a blaze at a former school in Haverhill last night.

The fire broke out just after 10pm Sunday night at the derelict Castle Middle School in School Lane.

The area around the building was cordoned off and 10 fire crews were called to the scene.

There were gas canisters inside the school.

Those living nearby were asked to stay indoors with their windows shut but didn't need to be evacuated.
