Visiting restrictions have been bought in at Hinchingbrooke Hospital after an outbreak of Norovirus in the Huntingdon area.

Norovirus, also known as the winter vomiting bug, causes diarrhoea and vomiting.

Visitors are being asked to stay away from the hospital if they have recently had either symptom.

Patients are also being restricted to one visitor at a time as the hospital attempts to prevent patients picking up the infection.

A spokesperson for Hinchingbrooke Hospital said: "The Huntingdon area has been affected by Norovirus - diarrhoea and vomiting.

In order to prevent our vulnerable patients picking up the illness, Hinchingbrooke hospital have reduced visiting to one person per patient.

If you are visiting patients on the wards, please ensure that you wash your hands with soap and water before entering the ward, after contact with a patient and on leaving the ward."
