Swavesey Man Released

A man, arrested on suspicion of firing a gun just over the head of a traveller child in Swavesey, has been released on bail.

It happened last Thursday, when hundreds of travellers had gathered in the Cambridgeshire village for a religious festival.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: ""Police were called at 6pm on Thursday to an incident in Swavesey where there was reports of a child on private land.

It was reported that a man asked the child to leave and a firearm was discharged into the air. No-one was injured.

A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and taken to Huntingdon Police Station for questioning. He has been released on police bail to return on September 10."
