Detectives are trying to establish exactly where a 14 year old girl was sexually assaulted in Haverhill.

The attack, which happened around three weeks ago, has only just been reported to Police.

The victim was walking on her own along Greenfields Way towards Headlands Avenue at around 5:50pm on a weekday evening when a man walked up to her.

He asked her for a light and started talking to her.

He then pulled her into an alleyway before seriously sexually assaulting her.

The victim has described her attacker as a white male, around 6 foot 3 inches tall, bald with stubble and bloodshot eyes and had a Union Jack tattoo on one of his upper arms.

He was wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a beige vest.

Detectives are now trying to work out exactly where the attack took place.

When they have, house to house inquiries will start.

Detective Inspector Andy Footer said: "The female is extremely traumatized by this incident and has been very brave in coming forward to report this.

As the attack occurred some weeks ago it is imperative that we speak to anyone who was in the area at the time as soon as possible, and I urge anyone who has any information which could assist with this inquiry to contact West Suffolk CID without delay.”

Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to call West Suffolk CID on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
