Unemployment Down In Cambs

New jobless figures show 2,000 fewer people across Cambridgeshire claiming unemployment benefit, in the 3 months to April.

13,285 are offically unemployed in the county, with the greatest fall in North West Cambridgeshire, 452 fewer people claiming.

Across the UK, there are 2.46 million jobless,  49-thousand fewer than 3 months ago.

In Cambridgeshire - there's been a fall in jobless figures in every part of the county.

  • Cambridge    - 1213 men are unemployed (down 183),  451 women are unemployed (down 30)
  • Huntingdon   - 1118 men are unemployed (down 288),  483 women are unemployed (down 96)
  • NE Cambs     - 1494 men are unemployed (down 182),  700 women are unemployed (down 36)
  • NW Cambs    - 1589 men are unemployed (down 337),  660 women are unemployed (down 115)
  • Peterborough - 2500 men are unemployed (down 211),  1031 women are unemployed (down 6)
  • S Cambs        -  556 men are unemployed (down 303),  255 women are unemployed (down 37)
  • SE Cambs     -  846 men are unemployed (down 214),  389 women are unemployed (up 3)
