New research has revealed a list of 20 places in the UK with the most drink drive convictions, and Truro is included.
Topping the list is Welsh town Llandrindod Wells, but Truro still made the top 20, coming in at number 19.
The research by Money Supermarket found that almost one in 20 driving offences are drink or drug related, and men are more than twice as likely than women to be convicted of drink or drug driving.
More than 11 million insurance quotes over the last year were looked at to get the figures, which also show that drink driving appears to be more prevalent in rural areas.
Neil Greig from the Institute of Advanced Motorists says "Temptation is always higher at Christmas.. it seems to be rural areas, where there's worse public transport that have the most problems".
Those found guilty will receive a driving ban of up to a year, a fine of up to £5,000 and in some cases face a prison sentence. Drivers will also see their insurance premiums shoot up by an average £350.
Neil Greig says "That all pales into insignificance against the emotional headache of being involved in a drink drive death or injury, because that goes on for a lifetime".
The advice is to always plan your route home before a night out, so that you aren't tempted to get behind the wheel after having had a drink.
