A 13 year old girl’s been robbed on her way home from school in Poole.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.

The incident, in which a man riding a red bicycle tried to grab the bag of the young victim as she was walking, happened in Rosemary Road between Rosemary Road Motors and the medical centre at around 4pm on Monday, 8 November 2010.

The girl wasn’t injured and her bag was recovered – nothing was stolen.

Detective Constable Ben Singleton, of Bournemouth and Poole CID, said:

“The young victim was walking home with her bag over her shoulder when her attacker tried to grab it.

“The handle snapped and luckily she managed to hold on to it.

“I am appealing to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has any information about the man responsible - whose red bicycle appeared to be hand-painted - to contact me as soon as possible.”

The attacker is said to be white and was wearing a green hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 01202 or 01305 22 22 22 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
