14-year-old Girl Sexually Assaulted On Bus

Detectives in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after a sexual assault on a bus in the town.

A 14-year-old Bournemouth girl was inappropriately touched by a man and kissed on the cheek without her consent on a bus travelling between Bournemouth Square and Castlepoint at around 5pm on Sunday, 19 September 2010.

The offender had persistently tried to start a conversation with the victim and followed her around several Castlepoint shops after they had both alighted from a yellow Transdev number three service bus.

Detective Constable Rich Saunders, of Bournemouth and Poole CID, said:

“We have followed a number of lines enquiry, including the review of an extensive amount of CCTV footage, and we are now able to release an image of a man we would like to speak with.

“I would urge this man, and anyone who recognises him, to contact me as soon as possible.

“It may be that the pictured man will be able to help me with my investigation.”

The victim was distressed but not injured as a result of this incident.

DC Saunders continued:

“I would like to stress that I believe this to be an isolated incident as we have not received reports of any other incidents that fit this description.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, and anyone with information about the man responsible,
to contact me urgently.

“Castlepoint is a busy shopping area and it may be that someone, perhaps several people, may be able
to help me with this investigation.”
